ASB

ASB is an opportunity for students to become involved with leadership. Students are elected in the Fall for the school-wide offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Sergeant of Arms.  Leadership opportunities (classroom representatives) are also available for grades 3 - 6. These officers meet monthly to discuss and plan school activities. In order to reach ASB goals, fundraisers are conducted throughout the year. For more information contact Mrs. Chamberlin.

  • 2nd Grade Tutoring - 2nd grade tutoring is offered to students who were identified as needing extra assistance (based on DOOR testing). For more information please contact Mrs. Reynolds.

  • BLAST (Boys Learning After School Together) for 4th grade boys - This program is offered to boys needing extra assistance in writing as identified by the WASL or other State tests or by teacher referral. For more information, please contact Mr. Baker or Mr. Hardy.

  • GEMS (Girls Empowered To Model Success) for 4th grade girls - This program is offered to girls needing extra assistance in writing as identified by the WASL or other State tests  or by teacher referral. The program meets two times per week after school. For more information, please contact Mrs. Hazen-Gross or Ms. Paulson.

  • Math Club for 6th grade students - This is an after school program that focuses on supporting students in areas that can typically be a challenge (ex: adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing fractions and math facts). This program is designed to support/enhance student achievement which will hopefully be reflected on individual  WASL scores.

Choir

The Clear Creek Choir is a volunteer group of 4th, 5th and 6th grade students that meet twice a week before school. This group is for students that enjoy singing and performing. The Clear Creek Choir represents the school by performing throughout the year for school and community events. Clear Creek also has a staff choir which regularly performs with the student choir. Please contact Mrs. Shipe for more information.

Distinguished Reader

Beginning in 6th grade, students may participate in the Distinguished Reader Program, sponsored by CKSD and the Kitsap Regional Library. This program encourages students in grades 6 -12 to explore, appreciate, and read quality literature. Participating students read 10 books per school year that are voluntary rather than assigned reading. After reading a book, students conference with their school librarian, public librarian, or teacher. Clear Creek’s Distinguished Readers are recognized during our 6th grade promotion. They are also recognized by the school board at a district-wide Distinguished Reader Recognition Assembly.  For more information, please contact Ms. Heim or click the DR Program link to the left of this section.

Reader's Choice Award

The Reader's Choice Award Program encourages students to write stories and evaluate them. Between January and May, all students may enter by placing stories they have written in the Reader's Choice Award bookshelf in the library. Students and staff enjoy reading these stories and may submit evaluations of them. All students who enter a story receive a treat. Students who win the Reader's Choice Award receive recognition over the daily announcements, an official Reader's Choice Seal on their book, 2 special treats from the principal and are entered into a drawing for a bookstore gift certificate.  Please contact Mr. Young for more information.

Reflections

The Reflections Program, sponsored by PTA, is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. Each year, Reflections provides students an opportunity to create original works based on that year's theme. Information about the theme is usually available in October and entries are due toward the middle of December. Please contact Mrs. Floro for more information.

Safety Patrol

Safety patrol is open to 5th and 6th grade students. Eligibility to participate is based on a student's behavioral and academic progress. Patrollers have to be mature and responsible, have good leadership skills and be positive role models for younger students. There are morning and afternoon shifts and there are over 10 positions around the perimeter of the school. Currently we have approximately 40 patrollers. Each patroller works a 2 week rotating schedule. Patrollers are responsible for the safety of other students by making sure they walk carefully, safely, and directly to their destination. Patrollers get to go on a field trip at the end of the year as a reward for their hard work. The Safety Patrol advisors are Mrs. Chamberlin and Mr. Winger.

Science Fair

Each year Clear Creek conducts a school wide science fair.  Students in 1st through 6th grade generate questions and design experiments to investigate hypotheses.  Some 1st through 3rd grades classes participate as a group while they learn the process of the scientific method. Primary students may also chose to participate individually.  Students in 4th through 6th grade produce individual projects.  Students ask authentic questions, pose hypotheses, design and conduct experiments to test their hypothesis, and construct displays to share their scientific journeys with us. The Science Fair is an exciting celebration of learning.

Vertical World

Vertical World is an outdoor adventure education program for 4th grade students. Every year Mr. Cole conducts a school wide fundraiser to help offset the cost. For more information please contact Mr. Cole.
